ITV Case Study

ITV plc is a British media company that holds 13 of the 15 regional television licences that make up the ITV network (Channel 3), the oldest and largest commercial terrestrial television network in the United Kingdom. ITV, as an integrated producer broadcaster (IPB), creates, owns and distributes high-quality content on multiple platforms globally. 

ITV have traditionally adopted a workplace approach where every employee has their own workstation including a desk, chair, pedestal and a locker. This however took up vast amounts of space across each premises, and as new ways of working were introduced across the business, fixed workstations were no longer serving a purpose. Many lockers were occupied but management teams had no visibility around who was using what locker facilities and how long for. Current workstations did also not support new working practises, so ITV acknowledged it was time for a change. 

The Project:

Following the installation of our Simplicity smart lockers, ITV have reduced their property portfolio by 40%. Employees have now embraced hybrid working and are able to work from new, shared collaborative zones as opposed to an allocated desk. Due to the versatility Simplicity smart lockers offer, storage facilities have been provided for only 80% of the workforce, with the proviso that more can be installed should it be deemed necessary. Simplicity has given users the flexibility needed to allow them to thrive in a hybrid working environment, has given employees somewhere to safely store their belongings each night and has also helped the business to introduce a clear desk policy. Staff members are able to ‘tap’ their ID pass against a locker for quick and convenient access, with lost keys and forgotten codes becoming a thing of the past.
