We’re celebrating our 50th anniversary!

Wybone has been one of the leading manufacturers of street furniture and clinical waste products for 50 years. As we’re celebrating our golden year in business, we’d like to take a look back at our heritage.

Our beloved chairman Mr Wyatt, and Mr & Mrs Bone joined forces back in 1969, originally established as Wybone Industrial Sales Ltd, with sack holder production beginning in 1973.

In the early 80’s, Mr Wyatt’s son Richard joined the company, attending waste management exhibitions alongside his Dad. Our late secretary Mary Gascoigne also joined the team as our first female sales representative – we’re very proud of this accolade, Mary was well known and respected in the waste industry!

We developed a manufacturing technique exclusive to Wybone in 1982, whereby a wooden carcass is encapsulated with high impact strength glass fibre composite resins, to produce a hardwearing product that will never rust. This technique is still used in our factory today, built and even hand-painted by our skilled team – some of which have worked in this department for over 40 years. In 1988, we were recognised as the first company to manufacture metal litter bins in the UK. Metalwork is now one of our busiest production departments and our flagship MLB Litter Bin range is favoured by many councils across the country.

Mr Wyatt decided to semi-retire from Wybone in 1995 after all his hard work over the years and appointed Richard as the new Managing Director.

We were successful in winning a place on the Supply Chain framework in 1998, supplying ‘Medical Furniture and Sack Holders’ to the NHS. We’ve been an approved supplier for the last two decades and will be celebrating our 20th year on the framework.

Now in 2019, Wybone has gone from strength to strength, maintaining the principles that Mr Wyatt strongly believed in. With a strong customer base in the UK, we’re now exporting to more than 10 countries internationally.

We’ll be inviting both new and existing customers and suppliers to take part in our annual golf day to celebrate our anniversary. We’ll be hosting the day at Hickleton Golf Club again, with 12 teams battling it out to win the title.

In celebration of our 50th year, we’re aiming to make this bigger and better than ever, and we’ve got some amazing prizes up for grabs kindly donated by our generous suppliers and customers.
